There are a lot of great Method books for trumpet but they are very heavy to lug around and quite costly if you buy them all. Some of them are public domain as they’ve been around for hundreds of years.
Here’s some links to pubic domain (free) resources.
Clint ‘Pops’ McLachlin has some of the best technique book links on his site including Arban and Clarke and some others I’m about to check out right now!
Many of you know about the Creole Jazz Band Fake Books that they kindly share for free on their website including different versions for transposing instruments. As most of you know, trumpet players should download the Bb Treble book and Trombone players should get the bass clef (unless you would like to try getting one of the other books to work on your sight transposing. It’s a pretty good skill for trumpet players to be able to read a Concert pitch chart (mentally take it up a tone and adjust the key signature accordingly) and trombone players should learn how to read concert pitch treble and also Trumpet players’ Bb treble as you man end up in a section sharing charts with a trumpeter or other horn player.
